[...] Although the study makes no mention of Bush, but I suspect 6 years of the Bush administration have also played a factor. This study was focused on the U.S., but I suspect on a global level, the numbers would be even worse. I’ve written here before about corrosive effect of Christianity’s association with American foreign policy I experienced first hand in England. But that corrosion is happening at home as well, and undoubtedly plays a role in those 3% positive association with the term among young non-Christians in this country. Globally, folks are even less likely to distinguish between George Bush’s evangelicalism and the rest of us. [...]

Tim, I'd like to excerpt from your blog for the Dove Tales article on CPWI. I pretty much took your content paragraphs and left out an adjective here or there. How do I credit you? Just your name, or also the website?
peace,
Susan Mark Landis

I'm guessing your referring to the Anabaptist Network gathering that I invited people to on Friday night. We met briefly after the walk around the White House, but it was really late and really cold, so we only chatted briefly before heading home. But I had quite a number of conversations with young adults who were there. While we may have been outnumbered by older folks, I think we made a reasonable showing.

What I do want to write more about is the Mennonite Peace and Justice Network gathering on Saturday. Peter Dula, former MCC director in Iraq, spoke and was really inspiring and articulate on the subject of guilt, cynicism and hope around Iraq.

Thanks for sharing your reflections on the service, Tim. Members of my church went and also found it to be wonderful. Their only complaint was that there were no youth there--mostly ex-hippie types. They must not have seen you!

I was also hoping someone would post about the YAR gathering on Saturday. Any takers?
