Hey Steve,

What a great way to celebrate a holiday! Our anabaptist ancestors would be proud!

Wonderful, Nekeisha.

Last year I was challenged to think of Thanksgiving as representing a welcome to immigrants to America. So we invited a Congolese family of 10 to join our thanksgiving of the homeless and the mentally ill. It was an interesting mix, and an opportunity to hear stories that otherwise we would not have heard.

Thanks for this honest and thoughtful post, Nekeisha. Last year my family fasted for Thanksgiving, and traveled around to local sights where indigenous people were mistreated or massacred. That certainly helped bring the "itchiness" to the fore in a powerful way -- of course, we also enjoyed a day together as a family. And I admit I still got a great meal the next day from my in-laws...
